On September 25^th, 1824, the brigantine True Friend left Quebec, bound for Halifax. Captain Samuel Walker was at the helm. Nearing East Point, where seafarers did their best to navigate the reef there, a violent northeast gale blew in. True Friend couldn't avoid the reef and the vessel was lost. Passengers and crew were thrown into the rough waters. Fortunately, despite the terrible seas, everyone made it to shore alive.
