Industries

     Industry was, and still is, a key component to community life and success. A diversity of industries have contributed to the economic and social lives of the residents of Eastern Kings. Prince Edward Island being famous for its fishing and farming industries, it should not be surprising that the community which boasts the meeting of the tides and rising of the sun could also be proud of its fishing and farming industry.

     In a time when access to transportation was limited, small communities were more self-sufficient.  Therefore, having one or more mills, forges and factories was a necessity; residents of Eastern Kings had access to all of these.  

     Having access to natural resources such as rich farm land, strong fish stocks, and irish moss provided the opportunity for community industrial strength and success.
