Lowther Family

This is a photo of William and Fanny Lowther and their children. William Lowther married Fanny Howard on July 24, 1888. When the couple were married William moved to Cornwall from the Borden-Carleton area and lived in a mansard-style house that belonged to Fanny's father. The house still stands in Cornwall and still belongs to the Lowther family.

MacKinley Homestead

The MacKinley family owned a large portion of land just off the North River bridge for several generations. This was the homestead of Bruce Senior and Doris MacKinley. The house was eventually torn down. This area is now occupied by MacKinley Crescent.

North River

This photo was taken on an Ottawa bound flight on July 20, 2011. You can almost see the entire North River and the former community of York Point which was amalgamated with Cornwall in 1995.

North River Causeway Construction

This photograph was taken on the Cornwall side of the North River, during the construction of the North River Causeway. Barely visible in the background is the old steel bridge that spanned the river before the causeway existed.

The original North River rink was officially opened January 9, 1950

The North River rink was built by members of the community in 1949. It was completed in 1950 and officially opened on January 9th

Old Home

This home was owned by Alice and Ford Wilson. It stood approximately where the Cornwall Christian Church stands today. The home was originally part of a motel, and was moved to Cornwall from Bonshaw. It was moved during the time before paved roads, and the move took a day and a half.
