Wheatley River

Wheatley River is located between Oyster Bed Bridge and Hunter River. It is mainly a farming community with a lot of land passed down from generation to generation. Wheatley River was originally called Whitley River, then eventually Wheatly River and finally Wheatley River as it is known today. It was a booming little community in the 1800s with blacksmith shops, a tannery, tailor shops, brick making, a mill, a few stores, ship building, and even a few road houses.
