Laying down the tracks at Tracadie Cross
-
Photo of the rail crew laying down the tracks near Tracadie Cross Station. The Property was surveyed in 1872 and rail service to and from this station began in 1875. The yard contained a 20’ by 40’ stock pen and business siding where lime and fertilizer for the land was unloaded. A warehouse, owned by a Mr. Clark, was located at the west end of the property, near the steam bailer. The Railway station itself was located at the eastern end of the property. Rail cars came into this station with fuel for the local church, school and homes. Rail cars left the station with local produce (potatoes, turnip), beef, hogs, and pulp wood.
