Snow banks on train tracks

When the snow piled up on the train tracks, it had to be shovelled, mostly by hand. The train did have a plow on the front to push the snow, but if the drifts were too big, this didn't work. This picture shows the snow piled up to thirty-five feet in places.

St. Mary's School was opened in 1855 and is located along route 258 near St. Ann's. It is privatley owned now, and this is what it looks like today.

The George E. Full Starch Factory in Hunter River burned down on October 31, 1908.

Stella Maris Church was constructed in 1920, but didn't officially become its own parish until 1936.

Stella Maris Church and Convent. The church is still in use, and the convent has since been privately purchased and turned into a senior's home.
