A bicycle and doll carriage dress up competition event held during the 1985 Somerset Festival. The Somerset Festival is held every July, for a week, and has events happening every day for all ages that bring the community together.

Citizen of the Year
-
The Citizen of the Year is chosen by the people of kinkora. They are presented their award each year during the Somerset Festival by the previous year’s winner. One of the honours is a place in the parade. Jean Gaudet was 1990’s winner and was driven in the horse and carriage by Raymond Kelly.

Joe Shreenan grew up in Kinkora then moved away for a number of years and moved back to the area for his retirement. Joe discusses what growing up in the area was like and the changes he noticed when he returned.

Vernon has lived in Kinkora for 92 years and Bernice since she came “as a bride” 66 years ago. Vernon talks about his years growing up in Kinkora. They both discuss raising a family, working, and changes they have witnessed over the years in the Kinkora Area.

Construction on Business Center

Construction to add to the new kinkora Area Business Center was done by a local construction firm Desroches Construction. The original building was created as a school and then served various functions before the addition was added.

Cub Scouts Float
-
The local Cub Scouts troupe takes place in the Somerset Parade. Cubs is just one of the many children’s clubs that are available in the kinkora Area.

Dedication of War Memorial in Kinkora
-
A monument remembering the men and women who served in the military from the kinkora area was dedicated on Remembrance Day 1992. It is located next to the Community Center in kinkora. Mr. Justice Armand Desroches said during his dedication speech “Let it serve as a reminder to all future generations of the service of the men and women of kinkora area in the cause of peace.”

Duffy's Esso
-
Duffy’s Esso and Garage on Anderson Road, kinkora was originally started by Fred Coady in 1946. The Coady family lived upstairs when they owned it. This living area was turned into a gym when owned by the Duffy's. The Duffy's sold it to Austin Roberts.
