By definition, folklore means, a set of beliefs, legends, customs or stories believed by a body of people. Growing up in this area many have heard just these such stories. Oral tellings of ghosts, lost treasure, fairies, bear stories, mysterious noises and sightings; all of these have been retold over and over and passed on for many years. Whether one believes, many times depends on who tells the story and how often its heard. Either way, the stories seem to travel between generations with little to no change in details. Folklore provides the basis of oral tradition for many communities.
